Here Be Sexist Vampires by Suzanne Wright : Book Review

Storyline Rating : ∞ stars

Series : Book 1 in Deep in Your Veins

Brief Summary from Goodreads :

Sam Parker is a vampire with a gift so strong and substantial that she is invited to partake in a test for a place in the Grand High Master Vampire’s private army. She finds that not only has the army never included a woman, but it has never included a Sventé vampire; a breed that is regarded by the super strong Pagori breed and the hypnotically beautiful Keja breed to be too tame and human-like. Most refuse to take her seriously, especially a Pagori commander named Jared who she craves in spite of herself.

The Grand High Master, however, sees her potential and offers her the position of Jared’s co-commander to help train the newest squad in time for the impending attack on his home. Sam has to demonstrate to Jared and the squad of chauvinists why it is incredibly foolish to underestimate a wilful, temperamental, borderline-homicidal Sventé female.

My Point of View :

Officially my favorite series!!!!!!! I can’t stop reading it and can’t put my e-reader down – even for lunch, dinner, house chores…etc…., I just have to keep reading it till I finish it, but once I had finished the book….I NEED TO READ THE NEXT ONE! Just…mind blowing.

Well first off, the introduction to the book – the book started off with Sam offered by a master vampire, Sebastian with a chance to fight for place in the Grand Master Vampire’s legion. She accepted the offer and was teleported to an island that does not exist on any map, The Hollow. Right before Sam head for her trials/tests for a place in the legion, she met a sexy and HOT dude by a swimming pool. Of course, she didn’t know then that he is Jared, one of the Commanders that would play and important role in choosing who to join the legion. From that moment on, Jared and Sam just have too much going on that I can’t explain in detail. One just have to read the book to know what really happened.

Moving on….., I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SAM. It’s not everyday you get to read books with heroines that are not “damsel-in-distress”. Sam is absolutely strong and spirited. The only sad past she had was her having such a BAD and EVIL Sire. She’s not only strong and spirited but also funny. I can’t stop laughing and smiling every time she opens her mouth and speak, or when she’s having internal monologues. And of course, like everyone else, I love Jared too (*just not as much as Sam*). He’s irritating at first but then as the story progresses, he is kinda cool and his personality matches well with Sam’s.

Overall, the story is great – not just for the plot and characters. The details of the story also made the book great too. Details here really mean that the author did not discard any info on anything that seem unnecessary. For example, in some books, the author would just mention what vampires’ talents/gifts are without giving lots of details, and also when they’re ten or vampires in a team, they wouldn’t bother detailing each and every one of those characters just because they’re minor characters, but that is not the case with this book.

It’s definitely a MUST-READ.
