Branding the Virgin by Alexa Riley : Book Review

Storyline Rating : 4/5 stars

Brief Summary from Goodreads :

Mary-Jane wasn’t looking for drama. All she wanted was a family of her own, so she decided to make that happen. A mix-up at the sperm bank leaves her with a baby in her belly, but the father is none the wiser.

Ty was injured in a bull-riding accident, and now all he plans on doing is working on his ranch and keeping to himself. That is, until a little dark-haired woman shows up on his doorstep.

When their paths cross, will Mary-Jane be able to reveal to Ty that he’s the father? Will Ty be able to keep Mary-Jane from running? Will there be a lot of steam in this book? You betcha!

My Point of View :

The story is too short and fast-paced for my liking. The relationship between the hero and heroine is somewhat underdeveloped – it’s like (*blink*) They fell lust for each other. (*blink*) Fell in love. (*blink*) Got married. (*blink*) The End. Not much in between was explained, they fell in love within 3 days they have met without really knowing each other. I would have like that Mary-Jane’s background explained – e.g. Why was her childhood lonely? Did she live with her foster parents? What lead her to wanting a child through IVF?

I do love the idea of the story, especially the part where the hero’s nuts was stomped by a bull (one would think that his nuts are crushed…..but….surprisingly they survived) which causes him to have problems with getting an erection for years…till he met Mary-Jane. I think the story could be a whole lot more interesting if each character are developed even more.
